About Ongkrong Consulting

Ongkrong Consulting is an Australian consulting practice that identifies coordination gaps in operations-heavy, multi-site organisations and builds AI-enabled operating controls that staff can maintain. It was founded in 2024 by Motta Thong and is based in Melbourne, Victoria, serving organisations across Australia. The work always begins by reviewing how the organisation currently operates before any system change is recommended, which keeps every recommendation tied to evidence, cost and operational responsibility.

The problem we address: the coordination gap

A coordination gap is the point where work has to move between people, sites or systems and relies on manual effort to hold it together. In operations-heavy organisations these gaps appear as repeated phone calls, manual hand-overs, re-keyed data, status chasing and knowledge that lives in one person's head. They are costly because they consume staff time, slow service delivery and blur accountability, and they are hard to see from inside the daily process because the manual effort feels normal. We review records, processes and hand-overs to locate these gaps, then build operating controls that reduce the manual coordination and make the process maintainable.

01A$500 AI diagnosis
A documented assessment of the coordination gap, its operational effect and the practical AI use cases worth pursuing. This is the paid first engagement before any build is scoped.
02Build
The selected system is built in production with defined controls, ownership and operating documentation. The build follows the diagnosis finding.
03Retainer
We continue to review performance, improve the system and assess the next coordination problem. This suits organisations that need ongoing review and delivery capacity.

Live enterprise engagement: a pre-launch engagement

An enterprise client: a high-volume logistics operator

An enterprise client — a high-volume logistics operator — was running a manual calling operation by hand, averaging about 230,000 calls a day at 15–30 seconds each. We built and put into production an AI voice-notification system to run it. Live, the system reduced call-handling headcount by about 1,200 roles and let the operator redeploy about 300 staff into supervisory and quality roles with upskilling. The engagement covered the financial model, telecom vendor economics, integration design, the production command centre, and a security and go-live readiness review.

Engagement details are anonymised to protect the client. The figures are the operator's measured results.
